With the COVID-19 pandemic and political unrest, many people around the world felt trapped with feelings of loss and anxiety. While people were focused on the adversities before them, an underlying issue started coming to light. The biggest crisis facing the evangelical, global church today is the growing lack of biblical literacy worldwide, according to Thomas Schirrmacher, the former secretary-general of the World Evangelical Alliance. He declared at a meeting at 2020: "Our biggest problem is that Bible knowledge is fading away, … This is the utmost problem we have beyond all theological differences, financial problems, and political questions."

This book provides open-ended questions for the reader to ponder without any customized answer. The material is also not a reflection of only one person's meditation. The prompts simply pose as a tool to stimulate deep thinking in the reader, whereby cultivating an earnest desire to seek God's truth and eventually establishing an intimate relationship with God.

RECOMMENDATIONS

At the end of 2019, while originally intended to encourage the next generation at a youth camp to read the Bible and meditate on God's Word, I began writing a two-week devotional material. However, under God's continual encouragement and motivation, the material that intended to be two-weeks became a two-year devotional guide — Quite Time 100! Thanks be to God! He moved some Christian brothers and sisters in Christ to enthusiastically promote this work in the church. Their encouragement, along with weekly and daily reminders for participating readers, became a great support to all who participated in this Bible reading plan. From some of the participants’ feedback, we saw the Holy Spirit working. Many believers were willing to commit to reading the whole Bible in two years, creating a habit of having quiet meditation on the sweetness of God's Word and applying it to their lives.
